The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)
The CFPB is a U.S. federal government agency that enforces consumer protection laws, educates people about financial topics, and takes consumer complaints. You can submit your complaint to the CFPB, too, and find answers to hundreds of financial questions on their website.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
The FCC is a U.S. federal government agency that regulates television, radio, satellite, and cable communications in the U.S. If your complaint is about unwanted calls or telecom billing and services, you can also file it with the FCC.

Most businesses must register with the state Division of Consumer Protection. If you believe an individual or group may have pretended to be a real business when they are not, you can use this search to see if they are registered.

Search for licensees with the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL)
DOPL licenses over 60 types of professionals, such as nurses, barbers, or plumbers. If someone has been licensed by DOPL, this means they meet some minimum standard for their profession. This search will let you see if a professional you’ve interacted with is licensed.
